A vibrant spring gala themed Spring Blends All Things, Dreams Shine in Colors was successfully held on March 21. The event was jointly organized by the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the College of Civil Engineering, aiming to further promote the Study at HFUT brand and to build a platform for mutual learning among diverse civilizations. Leaders and faculty representatives from both units, together with more than one hundred international students from around the world, gathered to celebrate the arrival of spring.
In his welcome address, Dean Wang Jingfeng of the College of Civil Engineering emphasized that international students constitute an integral part of the college’s internationalization and serve as a vital bridge connecting China with the rest of the world. He noted that the gala not only provided a stage for international students to showcase their talents and pursue their aspirations, but also represented a significant initiative to advance the Study at HFUT brand and deepen international cultural exchange. He encouraged students to cherish their time on campus, excel in their academic pursuits, and act as ambassadors of cultural exchange between China and other countries.
The gala commenced with an energetic opening dance that instantly ignited the atmosphere. Featuring a rich variety of performances, the program included both traditional ethnic songs and dances reflecting diverse cultural backgrounds and artistic presentations integrating elements of Chinese culture. International students from Angola, Myanmar, Mozambique, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Morocco, and other countries took the stage, presenting distinctive traditional dances and songs from their homelands. With colorful costumes, melodious rhythms, and unique musical instruments, the performances created an immersive cultural experience akin to a world cultural exposition, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.
During the Chinese culture segment, international students performed a chorus of well-rehearsed Chinese songs. They sang classic pieces such as Hou Lai and The Moon Represents My Heart in fluent Chinese, delivering precise pronunciation and sincere emotion, which earned widespread acclaim. The gala concluded with a joint performance of Auld Lang Syne by students from different countries. In the warm and harmonious melody, participants of diverse cultural backgrounds joined hands, expressing heartfelt wishes for the spring season and shared aspirations for the future. The atmosphere was both warm and inspiring.
The successful hosting of this event not only showcased the positive and dynamic spirit of international students at the university, but also strengthened their sense of belonging and cohesion, adding a vibrant international touch to the spring campus.
