Anhui Province Cement-based Low-carbon Technology Engineering Research Center
The Anhui Province Cement-based Low-carbon Technology Engineering Research Center has responded to the national strategy of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality and the 2030 Carbon Emission Peaking Action Plan for Anhui Province. It aims to address issues such as high energy consumption, high carbon emissions, and low utilization efficiency in the building materials industry, primarily focusing on cement-based materials. The center, with the Hefei University of Technology as the main research entity, is jointly established with Anhui Fuhuang Steel Structure Co., Ltd., Hefei Hedian Intelligent Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Haidun Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., achieving an integrated layout of production, education, and research. Professor Qijun Yu serves as the director of the center, which has formed an academic committee comprising several academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, renowned professors, and leading scientific and technological experts from prominent enterprises.
Leveraging the foundations and advantages of the co-applicant and co-establishing units, the center focuses on common key issues, such as high carbon emissions in the national and Anhui Province's construction materials, low efficiency in construction projects, and high energy consumption in building usage. It conducts basic theoretical, key technological, and engineering application research in three aspects: low-carbon preparation technology for building materials, functional building materials, components, and intelligent manufacturing, as well as green building materials and recycling, aiming to form distinctive and regionally advantageous engineering research directions. The center aims to break through a set of key core technologies, develop a series of products and equipment with independent intellectual property rights, and promote large-scale application to facilitate the achievement of Anhui Province's dual carbon goals and economic development, generating significant socio-economic benefits in the cement industry, civil construction, and major engineering projects.
The center's construction integrates and coordinates the scientific and technological strengths of the building materials industry, addressing issues such as high input, high consumption, high pollution, and low efficiency in the production, application, and recycling of construction materials. It gathers a top-notch innovation team, concentrating efforts on basic theory, key technology, and application as research priorities, continuously providing advanced processes, technologies, concepts, and products. Simultaneously, it engages in engineering, integration, and large-scale promotion and application, cultivating high-level scientific and technological innovation talents, engineering and technical development personnel, and management talents, to establish an innovative platform characterized by openness, inclusiveness, competitiveness, and cooperation, driving the development of China's building materials industry towards green, low-carbon, long-lasting, and intelligent directions.
Anhui Rural Water Environment Management and Water Resources Utilization Engineering Laboratory
The Anhui Rural Water Environment Management and Water Resources Utilization Engineering Laboratory received approval for construction from the Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission in October 2019. Situated at Hefei University of Technology, in partnership with Anhui Shunyu Water Affairs Co., Ltd., the laboratory boasts a dedicated team of over 40 research and development professionals, including 9 professors and 12 associate professors, with more than 90% holding doctoral degrees.
The laboratory is dedicated to addressing the critical technical challenges encountered in rural water environment management and the utilization of water resources. Its objective is to foster collaborative innovation in core technologies and engineering applications, surmounting the technological barriers that impede the industrialization of key rural water environment management technologies. The laboratory aims to deliver pioneering technical accomplishments for rural water environment management and the utilization of water resources, fostering seamless integration and coordination between fundamental research and practical engineering applications within the domain. This endeavor strives to bolster the fundamental competitiveness of environmental protection industry technology in Anhui Province, expediting the swift advancement of the rural water environment management and water resources utilization industry, and contributing significantly to the development of idyllic countryside landscapes.
Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Civil Engineering Structures and Materials
The Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Civil Engineering Structures and Materials was approved by the Anhui Provincial Department of Science and Technology in 2008, passed acceptance in 2012, and was upgraded to a provincial key laboratory in 2016. Leveraging the key disciplines of Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Engineering Mechanics at Hefei University of Technology, as well as the authorization of doctoral degrees and postdoctoral mobile stations in the disciplines of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, the laboratory has developed over 12 years into an important research platform in the fields of civil, architectural, and transportation engineering, earning recognition as internationally renowned, regionally leading, and the top in Anhui.
The laboratory currently occupies a building area of over 5340 square meters, with equipment valued at over 45 million yuan, including more than 700 sets of various equipment. In 2006, it introduced the advanced MTS electro-hydraulic servo loading system from the United States. In 2019, the Coupled Environmental Loading Experimental System Discipline Platform was established, which experts unanimously recognized as a pioneering initiative domestically. In 2021, the construction of the High-Performance Drop Hammer Impact Test Platform is underway, which will become the first platform in Anhui Province capable of conducting high-performance impact tests on engineering structures upon completion. In the same year, the 1200t Large-Scale Multi-Functional Electro-Hydraulic Servo Structural Test System was built with a vertical loading device, and in 2022, the horizontal loading device will be completed, making it the largest experimental platform in Anhui Province in terms of loading capacity.
The laboratory has a total of over 50 fixed staff, including one Yangtze River Scholar, 20 professors, and 20 associate professors.
Advanced Steel Structure Technology and Industrial Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center
This is a significant research project established to address major issues in the industrialization of steel structures in Anhui Province, involving significant research tasks from national ministries, research tasks commissioned by domestic and foreign research institutions and enterprises. Led by Hefei University of Technology, the project utilizes fundamental research, talent development, and disciplinary advantages, collaborating with units including Magang Group, China Railway Fourth Survey and Design Institute Group, Anhui Fuhuang, and Anhui Honglu, renowned steel and construction design and testing enterprises in Anhui Province. With the support of Anhui Provincial Government policies, the project focuses on theoretical innovation, talent cultivation, and platform construction, with five collaborative innovation platforms in Intelligent Manufacturing and Robot Welding of Steel Structures, Advanced Steel Structure Design Theory and Application, Modern Steel Structure Construction and Internet of Things Monitoring, Industrialization of Steel Structure Residences and Supporting Product Development, and Vibration Control Technology of Steel Structures and Development of Vibration Reduction Products, aiming to address 15 key core issues in the industrialization of steel structure technology.
The project is centered around four core tasks and five innovation platforms, aiming to achieve breakthroughs in several key core technologies and develop a number of products with independent intellectual property rights. Through interdisciplinary and cross-unit collaborative innovation, it effectively promotes the deep integration of basic research in universities and engineering applications in the steel structure industry. Leveraging the comprehensive advantages of universities in innovation, talent, and disciplines, the project aims to meet the strategic development needs and major scientific and technological tasks of the national and Anhui steel structure industry. It aspires to gather top-notch talents and advantageous resources to establish an internationally influential innovation and research base for steel structure technology, achieving significant breakthroughs in several fundamental and cutting-edge areas and attaining a series of landmark achievements at the international advanced level. The project seeks to enhance the level of steel structure technology in Anhui Province, establish an industrialization base platform for the steel structure industry in Anhui Province, and support the innovative development of steel structure technology in China, accelerating the progress from a large steel structure country to a strong steel structure nation.
Since its establishment, the Collaborative Center has made significant breakthroughs in the design theory and application of prefabricated steel structures, as well as the research and application of building steel structure enclosure system products. It has obtained more than 24 patents with independent intellectual property rights, edited and participated in the formulation of two national standards, eight industry and local standards, and has won 15 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards. These steel structure residences and supporting products, along with their core technologies, have been applied and promoted in collaborative innovation enterprises, yielding significant social and economic benefits and driving the rapid development of the steel structure housing industry in Anhui Province. In 2013, it was approved as the fourth batch of Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, known as the Anhui Province Steel Structure Residential Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance, by the Anhui Provincial Department of Science and Technology and eight other departments.
National Prefabricated Building Industrial Base
In order to promote the scientific research, talent cultivation, and engineering services of China's construction industrialization, our university established the Hefei University of Technology Research Center for Construction Industrialization in 2014. Relying on the advantageous resources of relevant disciplines at Hefei University of Technology, the center has constructed four major platforms for the research and development, testing, design, and inspection of construction industrialization, based on the existing teaching, research platforms, and collaborative enterprise practice base. In recent years, the center has made significant breakthroughs in areas such as recycled concrete structures, assembled concrete composite shear walls, rural steel structure housing, high-rise steel structure housing, and architectural steel structural enclosure systems. It has obtained 44 national invention patents and utility model patents, 19 national natural science foundation projects, 20 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and 45 commissioned projects from enterprises. The center has received 11 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards and 14 national industry association awards, and has published over 100 academic papers related to construction industrialization.
Several scientific research achievements have been applied and promoted in construction industrialization projects in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong, and Anhui, among other regions, achieving significant economic and social benefits. The center has trained a group of outstanding leaders in national construction industrialization and established a complete talent cultivation system for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in construction industrialization. Simultaneously, it has nurtured a large number of excellent technical and managerial talents for construction industrialization enterprises. In 2014, it was approved as the Anhui Province Modernization Demonstration Base for Construction Industry by the Anhui Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and in 2017, it was approved as the first national-level prefabricated building industrial base by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
In this new historical period, the Hefei University of Technology National Prefabricated Building Industrial Base will be based in Anhui and serve the entire country. It will closely connect with the government functional departments, enterprises, and research institutions related to construction industrialization. The center will adhere to the spirit of practical innovation and earnest learning, innovate mechanisms in scientific research, talent cultivation, and engineering services, explore new ideas, and promote the further development of China's construction industrialization.
Anhui Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Civil Engineering Disaster Prevention and Mitigation
The center was approved for construction by the Anhui Provincial Department of Education in 2007 and passed acceptance in 2012. Relying on the Anhui Provincial Key Discipline of Civil Engineering at Hefei University of Technology and the doctoral degree authorization points in Civil Engineering and Mechanics, the center mainly focuses on the significant demands of civil engineering disaster prevention and mitigation. It has collaborated with industry-leading enterprises such as Anhui Construction Group and China Railway Fourth Survey and Design Institute Group to carry out fundamental and applied research in civil, architectural, and transportation disaster prevention and mitigation.
Since its establishment, the center has undertaken over 110 national and provincial-level projects, with a funding amount of over 32 million yuan. It has also led 140 commissioned projects from enterprises, with funding exceeding 53 million yuan. The center has published 526 papers in four main research directions, including civil engineering structural health monitoring, computational theory, and methods of intelligent structures, structural vibration control, geotechnical disaster prevention and mitigation, and geological stability evaluation, among which 193 have been included in SCI. Moreover, it has been granted 32 invention patents and formulated 51 standards. The center has received 19 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels.
Currently, the center has 21 full-time staff, including 17 with senior professional titles and 18 with doctoral degrees or above. It has trained 240 master's and doctoral students and provides 40 industry professionals to enterprises annually. The center actively engages in international exchanges and cooperation and has established long-term stable partnerships with the University of Lille in France and the University of Northern British Columbia in Canada. It has jointly cultivated six graduate students. The center's relevant technologies have been applied in over 30 products and hundreds of engineering projects in enterprises such as China Railway Fourth Survey and Design Institute, Anhui Provincial Communications Control Group, and Hefei Rail Transit Group, generating direct or indirect economic benefits of up to 90 million yuan.
Anhui Province Hydrogen Safety International Joint Research Center
The Anhui Province Hydrogen Safety International Joint Research Center was established on December 29, 2017, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
l Center Objectives
Through in-depth collaboration among international partners in areas related to hydrogen safety, such as fire, explosion, structural dynamic response, hydrogen risk assessment, and safety management, the center aims to break through the core key technologies of hydrogen safety theories and safety technology equipment. It also aims to establish a sound national standard specification and evaluation system for hydrogen safety, develop hydrogen safety application devices and corresponding testing platforms, and provide comprehensive support for hydrogen production, storage, and transportation safety.

The Hydrogen Safety International Joint Research Center will fully integrate the achievements of hydrogen safety research and technical equipment from various domestic and international cooperative partners. It will address the significant needs of various countries in hydrogen, especially hydrogen safety. Furthermore, it will cater to the global forefront demands of hydrogen safety scientific research. The center will gather resources, information, services, alliances, and shared mechanisms. It will explore new operational models and mechanisms, build an innovative research and engineering service platform for the Hydrogen Safety International Joint Research Center, bring together world-class professional teams in hydrogen safety research and engineering applications, establish hydrogen safety and industrial alliances, and shape a brand known for distinctive research, technology, equipment, and engineering services in hydrogen safety. The center is committed to enhancing global hydrogen safety innovation research services, serving the country's major needs and the secure and healthy development of the hydrogen energy industry, and constructing a technical innovation system that combines research and engineering as the core, technology and equipment as the guide, and integrates industry, academia, research, and application.

Anhui Province Infrastructure Safety Testing and Monitoring Engineering Laboratory
The Anhui Province Infrastructure Safety Testing and Monitoring Engineering Laboratory received approval from the Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission in July 2017 and passed the acceptance in September 2020. The laboratory is affiliated with Hefei University of Technology and has collaborated with Anhui Communications Holding Group Co., Ltd. It has conducted comprehensive basic and applied research, including the identification of working conditions for large-span bridges, ultimate bearing capacity and safety assessment, non-destructive testing and rapid maintenance technology and equipment for highways, safety monitoring and rapid maintenance technology for tunnels, slopes, and underground engineering, as well as inspection and reinforcement maintenance for industrial and civil construction projects. It has also addressed the handling measures for the driving vibration of steel plate composite beam bridges on operational highways.
With a focus on the urgent need for the safe operation of infrastructure in China, the engineering laboratory is based in Anhui. Building on previous developments, achievements in technology transfer, technical services, and talent cultivation, it leverages the combined advantages of industry, academia, and research. It integrates instruments, equipment, technical teams, and data information resources from various sectors such as transportation, water conservancy, and urban construction. It aims to establish a research and development integration center with sustained innovation capabilities and a technical support system that can drive and radiate effects. The laboratory is dedicated to providing advanced, practical, systematic, and complementary technical achievements and comprehensive public services for infrastructure safety testing and monitoring. It seeks to foster an emerging industry of engineering testing and monitoring primarily based on high-end technologies, and to build a high-level talent cultivation base, theoretical research, and technological development center in the field of infrastructure safety testing and monitoring, leading within the province and at the forefront nationwide.
