Recently, the results of the 2025 election of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering were announced, and Professor LI Guoqiang from Tongji University was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
In 2022, our college was approved to establish the Engineering Research Center of Low-Carbon Technology and Equipment for Cement-Based Materials under the Ministry of Education. Professor LI Guoqiang was invited to serve as Deputy Director of the Technical Committee of the center. He has visited our college on multiple occasions to provide guidance and has made outstanding contributions to the planning, construction, and development of the center.
Professor LI Guoqiang is currently a professor at the College of Civil Engineering of Tongji University, Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Prefabricated Construction of Civil Structures, and Director of the Engineering Research Center for Steel Structures under the Ministry of Education. He has long been engaged in teaching and research in the fields of structural engineering and disaster prevention in engineering. He has achieved internationally influential results in the analysis and design of high-performance steel structures, as well as in fire resistance and seismic resistance theories and technologies of steel structures, many of which have been widely applied in engineering practice in China.
The research achievement led by him, Key Technologies and Engineering Applications for Fire and Corrosion Protection of Long-Span Steel Structures, was awarded the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2014. Another achievement, Dual-Function Energy-Dissipating and Load-Bearing Metal Components and High-Performance Seismic Mitigation Structures, received the Second Prize of the National Technology Invention Award in 2017. He has also led projects that won one First Prize and one Second Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Awards.
Professor LI Guoqiang has led or participated in the development of 6 ISO international standards, 5 national standards, and 5 industry standards. He holds 72 authorized Chinese invention patents, 3 U.S. patents, and 2 Japanese patents. He has published 17 books in Chinese and English and more than 600 high-level academic journal papers. In 2018, he was elected as a foreign member of the Royal Academy of Science, Letters and Fine Arts of Belgium. In 2022, he received the John L.
