Dr. HU Guorong from Geoscience Australia Delivers a Special Report

Time:2026-04-02

On the morning of April 2, 2026, Geodesy Scientist HU Guorong from Geoscience Australia was invited to the College of Civil Engineering for an academic exchange and delivered a special report in Room 501 of the Weidi Building. Faculty members and student representatives from the Department of Surveying and Mapping Engineering attended the report session.

Before the report began, Dean TAO Tingye of the Department of Surveying and Mapping Engineering extended a warm welcome to Dr. HU Guorong and provided a brief overview of the department’s basic status in disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and research progress. He noted that this academic exchange provides an important opportunity for faculty and students to broaden their international academic horizons and lays a solid foundation for further deepening international cooperation in the field of surveying and mapping.

Dr. HU Guorong delivered an academic report titled "Robotic GNSS Antenna Calibration and Its Applications." The report focused on the critical role of robotic GNSS antenna calibration in centimeter-to-millimeter level precision geodesy. He systematically explained the impact of Phase Center Variation (PCV) parameter models on GNSS parameter estimation, particularly regarding the mechanisms affecting tropospheric delay and height component accuracy. Drawing on his practical experience in calibrating over 500 GNSS antennas, he shared typical cases and interesting findings from his research and proposed inspiring ideas and suggestions on how to further improve positioning accuracy using PCV models.

The report was content-rich and at the forefront of the field, not only deepening the faculty and students' understanding of high-precision GNSS positioning technology but also providing useful references for future scientific research exploration and technical applications. It holds positive significance for promoting international exchange and cooperation within the surveying and mapping discipline.
