On November 11, 2024, Professor Xu Hongming of the University of Birmingham visited the School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering of Hefei University of Technology to carry out research and exchange on internationalization and other topics. Hu Jia, Deputy Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Wang Jingfeng, Dean of School of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering, Zhang Zhenhua, Vice Dean, Gao Peng, Vice Dean, and representatives of relevant teachers attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by President Wang Jingfeng.

Dean Wang Jingfeng expressed his warm welcome to Prof. Xu Hongming's visit, and introduced in detail the college's professional and disciplinary construction, international exchange and cooperation. Prof. Xu Hongming introduced some experiences of the University of Birmingham in international cooperation, especially with Chinese universities. He shared the achievements of the University of Birmingham in the fields of talent cultivation and international scientific research, and put forward some rationalized suggestions.

Prof. Xu Hongming also analyzed the key problems encountered by Hefei University of Technology and University of Birmingham in the process of internationalization, and pointed out that the two sides can explore and cooperate in the areas of joint training of students, cooperation in scientific research projects, and exchange of young teachers.

This exchange meeting will establish a good foundation for the internationalized cooperation between Hefei University of Technology and University of Birmingham in civil engineering. Prof. Xu Hongming also visited Anhui Key Laboratory of Civil Engineering Structures and Materials.
